Chimera Launches Two New Casino Games
By staff
Chimera Technology has announced the addition of roulette and Caribbean poker to its existing casino games platform. The new games will complement the impressive array of games in the Chimera offering which already comprises favourites such favourites such as blackjack, craps, baccarat, video poker and slots machines.
Chimera President Ken Chua stated, 'These two new games are another proud accomplishment delivered by the Chimera team and demonstrate our desire to remain a leading provider of online casino games. We are now confidant that our complement of online casino games is complete and that our array of games will cater to the tastes of any online gambler. This is yet another small victory for Chimera, which will inevitably lead to great success for everyone involved with Chimera.'
The new games are available in play for cash and play for free modes. The free feature will invariably help to acquire new paying customers,” say Chimera, “As these individuals become more familiar with the games, statistically, a percentage of them will be ‘converted’ into new ‘money wagering’ clientele.” Mmm, so that’s how it works…
A carnival from Argentina
2002 Bodega Norton Malbec, Argentina, $11
By LAIN BRADFORD
Special to The State
This dark-colored gem of a wine is filled with great flavors. The nose is packed with layers of black plum and smoky tobacco aromas. Now for the good part: The taste is through the roof, like a carnival with lots of different flavors that work perfectly for the wine — ripe blackberries, more of the great plum flavors and hints of blueberries all framed nicely with oak notes. The finish really holds on with whispers of the fruit calling out for another sip. A real winner!
Seeing that this wine is from Argentina, the beef capital of South America, steaks are the answer. A nice filet mignon, slow grilled with a hint of salt and pepper, is divine with this wine. It is a real beef companion.
Malbec is a very interesting grape and one that is growing in popularity. This grape was originally grown in Bordeaux, France, as a blending grape.
When a nasty little bug called phylloxera came through and almost destroyed all of the vineyards in France, this grape was almost lost and forgotten. It was replanted in South America and is resistant to phylloxera, and thrives.
In flavors, this wine is a little softer than a cabernet sauvignon, but a little more robust than a merlot.
Bradford strives to review only wines available in South Carolina. If you have trouble finding one, e-mail him at lain@winetalk.org. Please identify the retailer where the wine was unavailable.
Death fears over carnival route
Plans to end the route in Hyde Park have been criticised
People could die at west London's Notting Hill carnival if the route is not changed, a report has warned.
The mayor's carnival strategic review group said increasing numbers and safety concerns mean one of Europe's biggest street festivals has to change.
It wants the course re-routed through Hyde Park, Bayswater Road and Harrow Road for 2005.
But review committee member Angie Bray condemned the report's findings as "scaremongering".
The 18-month review has looked at ways to boost safety at the 40-year-old festival which takes places over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Without a fundamental change to increase public safety and reduce crowd density, a major incident at carnival could lead to significant loss of life
Report findings
"Every year there is not a fatality is a year we have been lucky," Mayor of London Ken Livingstone said.
"We cannot honestly say to people who come to carnival that they are as safe as they could be."
The report stated: "Without a fundamental change to increase public safety and reduce crowd density, a major incident at carnival could lead to significant loss of life."
But review committee member Angie Bray condemned the report's findings and the mayor's "bullying and hectoring tone".
'Huge reservations'
"No-one can say hand on heart there will be no casualties, but that does not mean that this is at an emergency state," she said.
Alan Bradley, of Westminster Council, said: "We would be totally opposed to the procession finishing in Hyde Park.
"We would have huge safety reservations about the use of the park after dusk. The idea of having people in an unlit park would be hugely unsafe."
If the boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster do not agree to alter the route, Mr Livingstone said he would call on Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir John Stevens to use his powers to change it.
